Update (4th September): Current version 0.7.3 has got an intermittent problem that causes gotmail to display "Page doesn't contain any form action field!" and terminate abnormally. The issue is being investigated!
Cause: Login Process aborts. Login Page has changed again, depending where you get redirected to !!!. This may be the first signs that hotmail is about to change the login process again :(((. I am NOT going to fix this yet, as I don't want to cater for both login pages. Call me lazy. At this stage I will merely filter force a known good login server/page until such time that Hotmail settles on a standard login page.
Work around: Login again or download my quick fix (hacked version)
gotmail-0.7.3.jp.01.pl .
Note, this version is based upon Paul's 0.7.3. I am forcing the login process
to use a certain login server. This work around is brute force, does not guard
against Hotmail removing this server. Unfortunately I don't have sufficient
time to write a more elegant quick fix OR even fix it.
NOTE: I will be in South America from early November till January 2003. During this time I am unable to get to the Internet.
Folks,
Since patching the gotmail script late April and early May 2002, the maintainer of the Debian Version of gotmail (Paul Cannon, pik@debian.org) has contacted me. Paul was unfortunately not able to dedicate as much time to the project as he would have liked to, due to university commitments. Hence the latest patch dealing with the login process issue could not be addressed in a timely manner. He has now incorporated my code to deal with the login issue, other bugs I had addressed and some of his own outstanding bug fixes & improvements, in a newly released version of gotmail (0.6.6-deb7). Furthermore it is now official that Peter Hawkins, the original author of gotmail, is no longer maintaining it. Paul, has been told by Peter that he could "adopt the package", which he is more than happy to do so under the Debian banner.
As I am not interested in maintaining a separate version of Gotmail, I would like to dedicate this site to the Debian version. I'd rather submit my changes to the Debian source and ensure that there is a central location for all bug fixes and improvements. I was actually quite a bit surprised that a piece of code that has been used for such a long time by so many users, had still some interesting bugs left, and YES I suspect that there are still others to be found.
Paul is uploading gotmail to Freshmeat again! Furthermore, he has build a web site containing the latest version for Debian and Redhat.
There are quite a number of sites that give advice on how to install and run the script. One that I came across, can be found here. I will, in the not so distant future, add additional information on gotmail to this site.
Bug Reporting
All bug reports should be logged at Debian. For those of you that have send me bug reports in the past, I will forward these to Paul.

Current Debian Version: 0.7.3
My version 0.6.6_jp_v4, Dated: 2002-05-08, will no longer be available for download (it does not work with the latest hotmail changes). Future bug fixes should be sourced from the Debian version. Naturally should the Debian stop working and a quick turnaround cannot be made available, I may re-release an interim version on this site.
